Amazing things in nature...
Okay, so I just needed to share this spectacular stone Artistic Tile has been carrying for several months now... It's called Palisandro Bluette. This particular piece shown is a 3/4" polished slab, and GORGEOUS! I'm not really a blue stone person, but this is the exception to the rule. The stone is actually closest to the color of a weimaraner, almost blue, but almost grey...
Then throughout the natural blue waves in the stone, beautiful bronze and copper metallic elements run across the with stries of creamy white flecks... LOVE! This looks so amazing with simple wood cabinets. Perfect for built-in units or vanities... I have it alongside a piece of espresso stained rift-cut oak. SO loving the combo!

Who doesn't love a good pleat?
One thing that I just think is so opulent and fun is this custom pleated fabric from Bart Halpern. You've got dozen luscious colors of fabrics to choose from, then a spectacular array of pleating designs that you can do to them, then on top of it all back it according to its usage... So you can use it as upholstery material or as a wallcovering! How awesome is that!
What a gorgeous way to add textural interest to any room... Check it out!

Neutrals will always be there...
Just a really quick thing I noticed while going through a stack of approved fabrics I needed to check on stock and pricing on for 3 different clients... They are all shades of beige, taupe and cream... At the end of the day, the clients all still gravitate towards what they know will have the longest life span... It avoids the trends of color. Nothing wrong with that by any means, just sort of amusing that I'm sifting through a big pile of beige...

First purchases in the New Year...
Well Happy New Year to all... I hope the holidays were as wonderful and relaxing as mine. So what's up for 2011?
What's everyone up to? Are we cleaning house, moving house, or moving furniture around? I know the start of a new year, brings the sense of rebirth, and sometime rethinking what's going on in your space. I know my sister is progressively getting more and more organized, as she boasted to me yesterday that she just got a shoe cabinet to ring in the year, and get rid of the open shelving... Nice start!
I think an essential item for anyone is a really great comfy chair that you can sink into, whether it's in your living room or bedroom, a wonderful upholstered chair is key. I know everyone has different tastes, but here are a few favorites, not all terribly expensive either, but all totally comfortable, practical and sharp looking.
