Adrian's Pound Cake
Ingredients:
§ 3 cups white sugar
§ 3 cups all purpose flour
§ 5 whole eggs plus 2 egg yolks
§ 1 Tbsp Vanilla Extract
§ 2 Tsp Salt
§ 2 Sticks Butter
§ 1/2 Cup Crisco (butter flavored is great)
§ 1 cup milk
§ 1/3 cup raw sugar reserved for topping
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F degrees
2. Cream together the Butter, Crisco, and Sugar (except the raw sugar for topping)
3. Add Vanilla
4. Add eggs/yolks slowly
5. Add Milk slowly
6. Add flour and salt slowly until well mixed, careful not to add too much air into the batter.
7. Pour into Greased and Floured Bundt or tube cake pan, (I try to tap out the air pockets and let it rest for about 5 mins)
8. Sprinkle raw sugar over top before baking...
9. Bake at 350F, in center of oven, for 1 hour and 25 mins.
10. Let cool completely before removing from cake pan.
Variations:
· Substitute 2 packages of instant pistachio pudding mix for 1 cup flour
· Substitute light brown sugar or raw sugar for 1/2 - 1 cup of the 3 cups of sugar
· Add 1/2 can of lemon poppy filling for a lemon-poppy pound cake
· Substitute 1 1/2 cups sour cream for milk
· Add 1/2 -1 cup of your favorite nuts
